Sweet Hmongnolia's Business Startup, Website, and Social Media

This project was a team of 6 people working in different roles to help a small business an e-commerce store for her gift and specialty items.

THE PROCESS:
The process began with each of us researching how to start a business, acquire a DBA, obtain a business license, complete a domain search, which platform to build a website, and what social media accounts to begin with.

After 2 weeks of research, the team separated each task into projects for each member within their specialty. I was responsible for the domain search, choosing and building the website platforms, product listing, and creating the social media accounts.

We initially started with Shopify as the e-commerce platform and built the Etsy store on the side, to attract different customers. While designing the Shopify store, I noticed that the theme didn't support certain codings/scripts; therefore, I had to manually adjust the coding/scripts to have a workaround for them to work on Shopify.

Once Shopify was live and ongoing, I proceeded with the Etsy store. Some of the additional tasks were to help with product listing, to ensure it had SEO keywords to make the products more searchable.

After about a month and a half with Shopify, the owner wanted to switch to WordPress and create a simple landing page to showcase her social accounts until she was ready to build the Woocommerce store. That's when changes were made from Shopify to WordPress. I connected her website with Google Search Console and Google Analytics to help the owner understand and manage her traffic sources.

SOCIAL MEDIA
The social media accounts were created for Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok. Facebook was the main social media account that had a lot of engagement. We started marketing the business through Facebook by engaging in live streams and promoting deals. I was also in charge of maintaining any messages that came in through Facebook messages inquiring about the business or products.
